About LEKKA

Lekka is Afrikaans slang for “very nice” and it is the standard we bring to every job, from pruning a backyard maple to helping a storm-toppled giant find a safe landing.

Meet Dan and Beth

Lekka Tree Tech is rooted in Bigfork, Montana. Lekka is Afrikaans slang for “very nice,” and it is the standard we bring to every job. It is also a nod to Dan’s mentor, who passed down the trade before returning home to South Africa. For us, it’s a reminder that tree work is about more than cutting wood, it’s about doing the work right, respecting the wild, and caring for the people we serve.

Beth is the other half of Lekka, bringing clarity, organization, and care to every client experience. She makes sure the work we do in the trees translates into smooth communication, clear expectations, and a process that feels grounded and human. Where Dan is sawdust and steel, Beth is structure and flow. Together they keep Lekka rooted and thriving.

At heart, we are a husband-and-wife team building a life in Montana, caring for trees, and building something that matters.

Arborists by trade, feral by nature. That means we bring discipline, training, and the right tools to every site, but we also work with the grain of nature instead of against it. Our goal is simple: to leave your space safer, healthier, and yes — very nice.

How We Got Started

Lekka Tree wasn’t born from a business plan. It started with sawdust, ropes, and the belief that hard work done the right way matters. Dan spent years climbing, learning, and refining his craft under the guidance of a mentor who taught him that tree work is as much about character as it is about skill. It’s about showing up steady, respecting the wild, and doing the job right even when no one is watching.

When we moved to Montana, we wanted to carry that same spirit forward and build something that felt different. Not just another tree service, but a team that feels like family, where trust, honesty, and skill are non-negotiables. A place where people are equipped, supported, and proud of the work they put their name on.

We chose the name Lekka as a nod to that mentor and to the Afrikaans word itself, which means “very nice.” For us, it’s a reminder that tree work isn’t only about cutting wood — it’s about safety, stewardship, and leaving every property better than we found it.

Today, we’re building a Montana-based business with deep roots, and serving our community with the same values we started with: show up, work hard, respect the wild, and leave it better than it was.
